ZenTao has the basic built-in document management which can work as a complementary to cover processes that is not recorded in ZenTao. There are three types of document library in ZenTao, product document library, project document library and customized document library. Product document library can be used to save documents that are generated at the product level; project document library to save documents at the project level and customized document library to save documents like knowledge base and company management standards.

1. Manage Category

1.1 Go to Document(Doc) and you will see all the Doc Libs.

1.2 Click the Doc Library you want to see and click Manage Category to add categories to the Doc Lib.

2. Add a document

Go to DocLib you want to add a doc to and click “Create” to enter the page of creating a document.

  • There are two types of documents, text and url. If choose url, there will be a box to add url.
  • You can have an attachment uploaded at the same time.
  • Rich text editor is enabled in ZenTao.

3. View documents

After adding a document, you can view the document lists in the library. You can also check all the documents under a product by going to Product->Doc.

How is a document update? I added a Sales Brochure to my Product. After a review meeting, I have a new version to replace the existing one.

You can just delete the attached file, Sales Brochure, and upload a new one. If this is not answering your questions, please send a screenschot to renee@cnezsoft.com.

Which version of ZenTao you use? Maybe you can try to upgrade it to the latest version 8.3 (http://www.zentao.pm/download/27.html), which document management has been enhanced.

Thank you for the fast response!

I installed Zen&Tao Version 8.2.2 using Softaculous 4.8.3.

I was expecting Document history to be tracked, like Subversion or GIT would do? Document changes, when, and who, are as important to a project as story updates!

I do not want to loose earlier versions of a document either.

If your Document is attached,e.g. Word/Excel files, you can upgrade it to ZenTao 8.3, which has version control feature. Please read http://www.zentao.pm/book/zentaomanual/upgradezentao-18.html for how to upgrade ZenTao.

If your Document is simple text, you can see the detailed change in History. I will send you a screenshot via email later.

Thank you so much!

I think I have to wait for Softaculous to make the upgrade available to me.

I look forward to testing it!

Is there a Wiki module available? I need someplace to jot down shared information about projects and the company in general.

You can download source code from our website to upgrade. Wiki will be in ZenTao Pro. Markdown is the alternative for now.
